Sin apartarse del modelo tan reproducido en la época colonial en la Nueva España, san Juan viste de sacerdote y lleva muceta, que en este caso va cerrada con un broche dorado. Las estrellas que rodean su cabeza aluden a la tradición que cuenta que cinco estrellas brillaban en el río cuando fue martirizado.
